We live in a world that is living healthier today more than some of our past generations. But the question is are we truly living healthy, happy and whole.

Many have found this key to living a full life inside and out.

However, many of us fall into the daily routine and forget to remember why we are doing the daily routine. We have or had goals and dreams of what we think will make us happy.

But then, life starts taking its toll on us, breaking us down, working fifty to sixty hours a week, sometimes two or three jobs to support and raise families, getting by on week by week paychecks. Maybe, you have a great career and great family but there is still something missing.

Life tends to bring stress, hardship, and struggle, simply put life is not easy. We live and we learn, but we find ourselves just going through the motions of life.

So, how do we learn to live happy when the weight of our world is on our shoulders. We can not change what life dishes out to us, but we can change the way we live our lives. Thus, we can live happy, healthy and whole lives.

Each one of us are different inside and out, that is what makes us unique. Therefore, you will need to figure out works for you. I believe, we can all start with a few key principles that will lead you on the right path to living a happy, Healthy and whole life. It starts from inside you and changing your mindset in changing your life.

The human brain is one of the most fascinating organs of our bodies. It is the supercomputer of our bodies. It controls many functions in our body, thoughts, movement, organs, memory and speech, among other functions. There are many things that scientists have yet to discover about the human brain. Within the brain lies the mind, at least partially set in the brain, according to scientists.

The mind is the broad set of cognitive faculties that controls our thoughts and consciousness and can be very powerful.

It can help us accomplish things we never thought possible, yet it can convince us to do things we would never consider doing.

Therefore, we must be cautious as to what we feed our minds and what our state of mind is in.

There are many ways to keep the mind active and healthy. One of the most common methods of keeping a healthy mind is through meditation. There are many forms of meditation, most of which you should seek guidance and instruction.

However, you can start with basic meditation, also known as concentration meditation. This will teach you how to focus your mind and clear your mind. It is also the foundation for other forms of meditation. Other forms of meditation which include:

  • Heart-centered meditation
  • Walking meditation
  • Tai chi or qigong
  • Transcendental meditation

  • Stress relief
  • Improves concentration
  • Increases self-awareness
  • Anxiety
  • Clarity
  • Peace in oneself

There are other benefits with meditation including physical benefits. If we want to live happy, healthy and whole lives, then we should work on keeping our minds healthy first the rest will follow.

Just as it is important to keep our minds healthy, it is just as important to keep our bodies healthy. One of the ways we can do this is through exercise. The body was designed to move and be active. If we don’t keep our bodies active the muscles and tissues will start to atrophy. Exercise also builds muscle strength and helps boost endurance as well as, delivering oxygen to your tissues.

Regular exercise can also help prevent many health problems, improve your mood, boost energy, improve blood circulation, among many other things.

Getting the correct form of exercise does not mean you need to go to the gym every day. It just means get off the couch and get the body moving. We can get exercise through a variety of different activities.

The Department of Health and human Services recommends that we spend 150 hours a week of moderate aerobic activity or 75hours of vigorous aerobic activity per week. However, even small amounts of physical activity also good.

Healthy eating

Well, it goes without saying, healthy eating habits are a great way to keep both the mind and body healthy. Our bodies need fuel in order to function, just like a car runs on gasoline. What happens when you put in a lower grade gasoline into your new car? It becomes sluggish can start to bog down a bit, your car just isn’t running smoothly.

Well our bodies are the same, if we are feeding our bodies junk food and sweets all the time; then our bodies will start to not run smoothly.

Therefore, we should really pay attention to what we are putting in our bodies. Our bodies run on three main components, carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Vitamins and minerals are also essential, which aid in proper growth and development.

Having a healthy diet also helps the brain function properly, studies have shown that eating unhealthy foods can be harmful to the brain. Diets high in processed foods or refined sugars is just one example.

Ultimately, the foods we can also affect our moods and the way we feel and helps keep our bodies running. If we just keep putting junk in our system, eventually it is going to breakdown.

Keeping healthy with supplements

Daily life can have us constantly on the go, which can make it quite difficult to find the time to cook a healthy meal for ourselves three times a day. Although we can still eat healthy on the go, you might not be getting all the proper vitamins, minerals and nutrients that our bodies need to run.

We can incorporate supplements into our daily lives to help us get some nutrients we don’t get on the go. Dietary supplements come in the form of:

  • Capsules
  • Pills
  • Powders
  • Extracts
  • Gel tabs
  • Liquids

And they can contain a wide range of vitamins, minerals, amino acids or nutrients, which can be a bit confusing when choosing a dietary supplement.

CBD is another dietary supplement that is gaining more popularity as more studies and scientific proof that CBD has healing properties. However, we have learned that our bodies also contain a cannabinoid system, known as the Endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS helps control the body’s homeostasis among other things.

It is always recommended that you consult your doctor or a professional dietitian when considering taking dietary supplements.

Bring it all together

So, what is the key to happiness, well that depends on you. Ask yourself, what makes you truly happy? Are you happy in with your life?

If not, you need to find what is missing in your life and we are not talking about the big house you wish you had or a new car; no, what makes your soul/spirit happy.

True happiness comes from within.

Being happy and doing things that makes us happy, aids in our health. Studies have shown that joy and laughter have aided in healing people who were sick.

In fact, there was a movie about a doctor who practiced this with his patients called “Patch Adams”.

Find joy in your life, smile as much as possible and try to keep a positive outlook on life.

Once you decide to make changes in your life, remember it all starts in your way of thinking.

Get your mind clear and focused. This will help set you on the path of living a happy, healthy, whole life. Keeping your body and mind healthy is important in keeping the body in homeostasis.

The goal is to bring the mind, body, and spirit together as one in balance and harmony.

  1. Wooooow… This is an awesome post. I often tell my children that we have to be careful what we feed ourselves. Yes physically, but when I say it I mean mentally. The mind can be a dangerous thing so we have to protect it and take care of it. Great points!

    1. Hi Ashley, I often find that eating a healthy diet is difficult for me. First of all it is expensive to eat healthy. Secondly, For me, I have always been able to eat what I want, now that I am getting older, I find the habit of eating unhealthy is a hard habit to quite. But not as hard as quitting smoking..LOL.

      Thank you for your comment

  2. Man this is such an important topic. and I have found if any of these are out of line that the rest of your life starts to lag also. Life gets so busy that we can forget the important things like taking care of yourself. Thanks for doing what you do man! Cheers

    1. Thanks Robb, You are correct, Life is about harmony and balance in all life. When its out of balance things tend to wither and die. It is vital to keep everything in balance in everything. Its just like our planet, I do not necessarily buy into global warming, el nino, and all that hype. however, I do believe our planet is out of balance and we’re seeing the effects of this. Our bodies are the same and we have the control to put it back into balance, most of the time. Thanks for your comment.

  3. thanks for that. You covered some of the key things we should all do to keep ourselves in flow…meditation for me is the big one…the monkey mind is the root of all our problems. I’ve heard some amazing things about CBD as well

    1. Thank you Tariq, I can not believe you said monkey mind.. LMAO. I think of this also, but I call it monkey chatter. I saw a monk once explain about talking to the monkey while meditating. telling the monkey to be quiet and breath. I had such a hard time with meditation and clearing the mind until I heard this monk describe what he called “quieting the monkey. Ever since then I have been able to make more and more progress in my meditation. FYI research more about CBD, I am studying this more in depth myself and it is amazing, but it is not a cure all drug.

Thank you for your comments Tariq
